R.I.P. Zipper Interactive

It is official. What was once rumor is now solid fact. Developers of one of my favorite games of all time, Socom II: U.S. Navy Seals, has now been completely shut down. Zipper Interactive developed not only the majority of Socom titles, but also the brand-spankin’-new Unit 13 for the Playstation Vita.
They once pushed the boundaries of online gameplay. They once had a franchise that was more fun to play than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Now, they’re dead and gone.
Recent titles Mag, Socom 4, and Unit 13 will continue to be supported for a currently unknown amount of time. We’ll keep you posted.

It’s a bummer that this franchise will probably fade away….they set the benchmark for all online shooter games and now they are only a shell of what could have been. The PSN outage screwed them more than anything during the release…They also tried to change the face of classic SOCOM to bring in COD guys and that devided everybody…
