Dexter to End with Season 8

In an interview with TV Guide, Dexter executive producer Sara Colleton detailed that Season 8 will “absolutely” be the show’s final. Although that’s still a long ways away, Colleton says that these last couple seasons of Dexter can be considered “a two-season series-ender.” She goes on to state that the producers and writers have “worked it out and know where it’s going to end. Next year will definitely be the last year of Dexter.”
