5 PS1 Games We Want to Play on Vita

With the recent news that the PS Vita’s August 28th firmware update will bring compatibility for PS1 games, it’s hard for Vita owners not to drool over the possibilities for complete, utter nostalgia in their pockets. Although only a select few have been confirmed – Final Fantasy VII, Tomb Raider, and Twisted Metal among them – it is still a mystery to how many games and which in particular will be available for download.

With that said, here are five games we hope to someday have the joy to relive on our PS Vitas:

5. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2

The Tony Hawk series has always been addictive, and the improvements made in the second installment added a challenging twist to the entertainment. Improved levels and the ability to manual make this PS1 game a desirable one for the portable PS Vita.

4. Rampage World Tour

Must I even defend this pick? Having all that destruction in my pocket would be so awesome.

3. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

Remember Crash Bandicoot? Back before everyone’s favorite marsupial from down under was demoted to racing games and unnecessary party crossovers, Crash had some great adventures on the PS1. I think it would be awesome to relive his best one with CB2:CSB for the PS Vita.

2. Chrono Cross

Definitely a game I would love to relive; Chrono Cross is an amazing journey in so many ways.

1. Brave Fencer Musashi

Easily my favorite non-Final Fantasy Squaresoft game, it still blows my mind that there are many out there that haven’t experienced the joy this game has to offer. Then again, if this game finds its way to the PS Vita, that might be the perfect opportunity for people who haven’t played it to try it out. From the creative and humorous settings to the original and loveable characters, Brave Fencer Musashi is an absolute treat.
