Supplication – Russian River Brewing Co.

Supplication Russian River

Supplication is an American Wild Ale, aged with Pinot Noir. 7.00% ABV.

Appearance: Pours a ruby red with minimal head. Slight left behind.

Smell: Tart cherries, vanilla, and oak. Wonderful nose on this.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation, but very smooth. Dry finish.

Taste: A complex blend of various flavors, yet not overpowering and not too tart. Very well done. Every sip leads to something new: cherries, sour grapes, vinegar, lemon rind, vanilla, caramel – the list goes on. The Pinot Noir barrel aging brings some great acidity to this. Funky goodness, but incredibly balanced.

Overall: An amazing wild ale. It’s pricey ($13 for a 375 ml bottle), but it’s well worth the money for those who are into sour beers. This has to be right there next to Consecration as one of Russian River’s best wild ales. A paragon of the style.
